16. Development of fine-mesh methodologies for coupled calculations in Light Water Reactors
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents fine-mesh multiphysics methodologies and algorithms for numerical predictions of the behavior of Light Water Reactor (LWR) cores. The multiphysics aspects cover the distribution of neutrons, the fluid flow of the coolant and the conjugate heat transfer between the solid fuel pins and the fluid coolant. LÄS MER
17. Numerical modeling of deforming bubble transport related to cavitating hydraulic turbines
Sammanfattning : Cavitation is a problem in many hydroelectric power plants since it can cause adverse effects on performance and damage to nearby solid surfaces. The concerns of this thesis are the numerical aspects of flow simulations in cavitating hydraulic turbines which contain several difficulties: turbulent and complex flows, steady and moving parts of the geometry, bubble transport and cavitation development. 18. ANALYZING THE HYDRO DYNAMICS AND THE CHEMICAL REACTIONS IN PULP DIGESTER SYSTEMS USING CFD MODELLING
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to use differential analysis and finite volume method (FVM) to model and analyze a continuous pulp digester in order to create a detailed picture of the flow behaviour and chemical reactions in the digester. This information will be used to optimize wood chip flow and reactions and to diagnose and avoid faults such as hang-ups and channelling. LÄS MER
19. Dynamics of bubbles across scales
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents numerical investigations of bubbly flow phenomena across a wide range of relevant spatial and temporal scales. The aim is to increase our understanding of a great variety of underlying phenomena and to facilitate improved predictions of bubbly flows at all relevant scales. LÄS MER
20. Interacting particles and droplets at low Reynolds numbers
Sammanfattning : The overall purpose with this work is to study the flow past particles and droplets using numerical simulations. Especially the interaction among particles and droplets have been a main objective as the results are to be used in order to improve already existing spray models. LÄS MER
