  1. 1. Molecular epidemiology of streptococcus agalactiae : mobile elements as genetic markers

    Författare :Shi-Lu Luan; Mari Norgren; Barbara Spellerberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Streptococcus agalactiae; group II intron GBSi1 ; multilocus sequence typing; capsular serotype; population structure; Clinical bacteriology; Klinisk bakteriologi;

    Sammanfattning : Streptococcus agalactiae, also designated group B streptococcus (GBS), is a Gram-positive coccus, and it is an important pathogen that causes invasive disease in neonates, pregnant adults, and non-pregnant adults with predisposing conditions. The group II intron GBSi1 is one of the major mobile genetic elements identified in S. agalactiae. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular epidemiology of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus : epidemiological aspects of MRSA and the dissemination in the community and in hospitals

    Författare :Carolina Berglund; Bo Söderquist; Teruyo Ito; Ulf Tidefelt; Johanna Ericson Sollid; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA ; community-acquired MRSA CA-MRSA ; staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec SCCmec ; multilocus sequence typing MLST ; horizontal transfer; Panton Valentine leukocidin PVL ; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Methicillin-resistenta Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) som bär på genen mecA, har förekommit och spridit sig över hela världen, främst i sjukhusmiljö, och orsakat utbrott av vårdrelaterade (så kallade nosokomiala) infektioner. Dessa infektioner kan inte behandlas med stafylokock-penicilliner och MRSA-bakterierna är ofta resistenta även mot flera andra grupper av antibiotika vilket medför att infektionerna ofta är påtagligt svårbehandlade. 3. 3. Chlamydia trachomatis: Development of molecular typing methods and applications in epidemiology

    Författare :Markus Klint; Björn Herrmann; Jonas Blomberg; Michael Ward; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : A general aim was to combine molecular typing methods with clinical background information to increase epidemiological knowledge about Chlamydia trachomatis infections.An outbreak of Lymfogranuloma venereum (LGV), caused by a more invasive variant of C. trachomatis, was reported from the Netherlands in 2003 among men who have sex with men (MSM). Sammanfattning : Background Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) and in particular Staphylococcus epidermidis have emerged as major pathogens primarily causing nosocomial infections in patients with indwelling medical devices. These infections are often caused by multidrug-resistant strains of S. epidermidis (MDRSE). LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Chlamydia trachomatis is an obligate intracellular bacterium of major human health concern, causing urogential chlamydia infections, lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) and trachoma. Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide and can cause infertility. LÄS MER
