  1. 1. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Hilmer Riberholt; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; connections; sheathing; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 2. 2. Analysis of shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Bo Källsner; Anders Olsson; Ulf Arne Girhammar; Roberto Crocetti; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; sheathing-to-framing connections; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis addresses questions of how wind loads acting on multistoreytimber buildings can be dealt with by structural design of such buildings.The conventional use of sheathing either nailed or screwed to a timberframework is considered, together with other stabilizing structures such ascross-laminated timber panels. 3. 3. Architecturally Innovative Multi-Storey Timber Buildings : Methodology and Design

    Författare :Axel Kaiser; Andreas Falk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träbyggnad; Timber Structures;

    Sammanfattning : This investigation applies architectural ideas of mass-customised difference and repetition, and tests them within the engineering paradigm of very tall timber buildings – taller than have ever been erected in the history of architecture. According to Edward Glaeser’s book, Triumph of the City, the cheapest way to deliver new housing (at least in the USA) is in theform of mass-produced two-storey homes, which typically cost only about $84 per square foot to erect. 4. 4. Perceptions of intensive forestry and multi-storey wood frames among Swedish actors

    Författare :Kerstin Hemström; Krushna Mahapatra; Ole Jess Olsen; Anders Lunnan; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey wood frames; intensive forestry; actor perceptions; legitimacy; path dependence; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Implementation of intensive forestry (fertilization, cultivation of non-native tree species, and clone cultivation) on part of the forested land area in Sweden and an increased construction of wood-framed multi-storey buildings can contribute to reduce the net carbon dioxide emissions of the built environment. This thesis evaluates the acceptance of and interest in intensive forestry and multi-storey wood frames among different actors, and some of the underlying reasons for their approach. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Design support system for multi-storey timber structures

    Författare :Patrik Svanerudh; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träbyggnad; Timber Structures;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis is intended to improve the building process for multi-storey timber houses by reducing the risk of information loss between architects and structural engineers and by improving the possibilities for the structural engineers to optimise the structure with respect to production cost. This is reached by developing and implementing a conceptual model for a design support system for multi-storey timber structures that is capable of handling the information transfer between the architects and the structural engineers in a standardized manner and by providing a method that is capable of finding optimally directed solutions for the structure with respect to production cost.
