1. Element 115
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to detailed studies of element 115 decay chains using the highly efficient multi-coincidence alpha, electron, gamma and X-ray detector setup TASISpec at the gas-filled separator TASCA at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. In a three-week long experiment thirty new decay chains assumed to stem from element 115 isotopes were observed together with the very first detections of gamma rays and potential X-rays from these nuclei. 2. Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry : Exploring the Limits of Different Sample Preparation Strategies
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes two different sample preparation strategies for inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), and their ability regarding multi element quantification in complex samples. Sensitivity, repeatability, reproducibility and accuracy were investigated. LÄS MER
3. Structural-acoustic vibrations in wooden assemblies : Experimental modal analysis and finite element modelling
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis concerns flanking transmission in light weight, wooden multi-storey buildings within the low frequency, primarily 20-120 Hz. The overall aim is to investigate how the finite element method can contribute in the design phase to evaluate different junctions regarding flanking transmission. LÄS MER
4. Cut Finite Element Methods on Overlapping Meshes: Analysis and Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with both analysis and applications of cut finite element methods (CutFEMs) on overlapping meshes. By overlapping meshes we mean a mesh hierarchy with a background mesh at the bottom and one or more overlapping meshes that are stacked on top of it. LÄS MER
5. Mobile Satellite Broadcast and Multichannel Communications : analysis and design
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, analytical analysis and design techniques for wireless communications with diversity are studied. The impact of impairments such as correlated fading is analyzed using statistical models. Countermeasures designed to overcome, or even exploit, such effects are proposed and examined. LÄS MER
