  1. 1. Studies of Spinal Motor Control Networks in Genetically Modified Mouse Models

    Författare :Henrik Gezelius; Klas Kullander; Ted Ebendal; Martyn Goulding; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acetyl choline; central nervous system; central pattern generator; Cre recombinase; development; genetic screen; glutamate; interneuron; motor neuron; mouse; mouse genetics; movement; network; neuronal network; nicotinic receptors; physiology; Renshaw cell; rhythm; spinal cord; transmitter; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; Molecular neurobiology; Molekylär neurobiologi; Neurophysiology; Neurofysiologi; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi; Developmental Neurosciences;

    Sammanfattning : Spinal neurons are important in several aspects motor control. For example, the neurons essential for locomotor movements reside in the ventral spinal cord. In this thesis, different motor control functions are being related to neuronal populations defined by their common expression of a gene. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of the Mouse Lateral Telencephalon

    Författare :Jan Stenman; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; teratologi; embryologi människa ; Utvecklingsbiologi; ontogeny; embryology human ; teratology; Development biology; progenitor domains; striatum; olfactory bulb; amygdala; development; telencephalon; patterning; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : The telencephalon is the most rostral part of the vertebrate central nervous system and is comprised of a number of structures important for voluntary movements and higher cognitive processes. This thesis focuses on the genetic mechanisms that control development of a number of telencephalic structures: the olfactory bulb, the striatum as well as the lateral and basolateral nuclei of the amygdala. 3. 3. Uterus transplantation. An experimental study in the mouse

    Författare :Randa Racho El-Akouri; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; implantation; ischemia; mouse; pregnancy; rejection; transplantation; uterus;

    Sammanfattning : Uterus transplantation is a possible future treatment for uterine factor infertility, which can be either congenital (uterus agenesis/hypoplasia) or acquired (hysterectomy or intrauterine adhesions). The present study represents experiments where an animal model for uterine transplantation was developed and characterized. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to model and describe dynamical events for biological cells using statistical and mathematical tools. The thesis includes five papers that all relate to stochastic modelling of cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular and Cellular Control of Palate Development in the Mouse

    Författare :Forugh Vazirisani; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cleft palate; fate mapping; Sonic hedgehog; apoptosis; extracellular matrix; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : The formation of a definitive secondary palate in mammals is a multistep process that comprises growth, elevation, contact and fusion of the two palatal shelves. Disruption at any step generates cleft palate, a major congenital birth defect. Therefore, it is important to understand the mechanisms governing normal palate development. LÄS MER
