  1. 1. Manual Motor Development in Infancy : Execution and Observation of Actions

    Författare :Therese Ljunghammar Ekberg; Gustaf Gredebäck; Claes von Hofsten; Jeffrey J. Lockman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Infancy; Motor development; Reaching; Actions; Motor prediction; Prospective motor control; Social cognition; Stereopsis; Mirror neuron system; Mu rhythm; Motor impairment; Autism Spectrum Disorder; High-risk siblings; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Of all motor skills, manual reaching might be the one ability that matters most for infants’ perceptual, cognitive and social development. Reaching allows infants to learn about object properties, but also gives opportunities for socializing with others. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Motor control of the knee : kinematic and EMG studies of healthy individuals and people with patellofemoral pain

    Författare :Ann-Katrin Stensdotter; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Gunnevi Sundelin; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kinematics; Kinetic chain tasks; Knee; Motor Control; Muscle activity; Patellofemoral pain; Unpredictable perturbations; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is believed to be associated with deficits in coordination between the different heads of the quadriceps muscle; however, considerable debate exists in the literature regarding the presence of such a deficit. Discrepancies between studies may be explained by differences in experimental tasks, such as whether the task is performed with open (OKC) or closed kinetic chain (CKC), or whether the activity is voluntary or triggered. 3. 3. On the role of transversus abdominis in trunk motor control

    Författare :Martin Eriksson Crommert; Peter Engfeldt; Alf Thorstensson; Maria Ekblom; Birgitta Öberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :transversus abdominis; trunk muscles; EMG; intramuscular; IAP; motor control; postural control; spine stability; postural demand; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : All trunk muscles are important contributors to spine stability. However, the deepest abdominal muscle, transversus abdominis (TrA), with its characteristically horizontal fibre orientation seems to serve a unique function in trunk motor control. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Helping Hands : Motion and integration in action memory

    Författare :Jan von Essen; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Monik Knopf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; episodic memory; action memory; cued recall; motor activation; association; sentence integration; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Verbal information has predominantly been the to-be-remembered materials in human memory research for more than a century. In recent years some interesting deviations from the established rules of verbal memory have been observed in subjects who have been asked to motorically self-perform (enact) action sentences at the encoding phase of the memory task, instead of only hearing or reading them as in a traditional verbal task (VT). 5. 5. Variations in Functional Lateralization

    Författare :Peter E Wendt; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; posterior association cortex; prefrontal; DLPFC; regional cerebral blood flow; normal subjects; lateralization; asymmetry; performance; creativity; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; cognitive; ethanol; activation; visual stimulation; functional; verbal; divergent; spatial; Neurologi; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to study asymmetric activation of the neocortex in normal subjects, using the rCBF technique and different cognitive tasks. The aim was also to study individual and group variations of asymmetric activation, as well as factors pertaining to these variations. The thesis is based on four investigations. LÄS MER
