16. Automatic Dense Reconstruction from Uncalibrated Video Sequences
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a system that completely automaticallybuilds a three-dimensional model of a scene given a sequence ofimages of the scene. The system also estimates the internalparameters of the camera and the poses from where the originalimages were taken. LÄS MER
17. Topics on fractional Brownian motion and regular variation for stochastic processes
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis studies tail probabilities forelliptical distributions and probabilities of extreme eventsfor multivariate stochastic processes. It is assumed that thetails of the probability distributions satisfy a regularvariation condition. LÄS MER
18. Quality and motion estimation for image sequence coding
Sammanfattning : Since the advent of television obtaining high perceived quality using a limited bandwidth has been an important issue. This thesis proposes methods inspired and based on the human visual system for exploitation of temporal and perceptual redundancy in image sequences to achieve lower coding rate and/ or higher visual quality. 19. Online and Offline Identification of Tyre Model Parameters
Sammanfattning : The accelerating development of active safety system and autonomous vehicles put higher requirements on both environmental sensing and vehicle state estimation as well as virtual verification of these systems. The tyres are relevant in this context due to the considerable influence of the tyres on the vehicle motion and the performance boundaries set by the tyres. LÄS MER
20. A behavioural investigation into Eristalis tenax : Pursuit, approach estimation, locomotor activity and rearing
Sammanfattning : Hoverflies are suggested to be the 2nd most important pollinator group after bees and bumblebees, and with the changing climate and dwindling numbers of pollinators it might never have been more important understanding our pollinators. Given the hoverflies’ small brains, beautiful aerial acrobatics, good temporal resolution, but limited spatial resolution, these flies make interesting study animals for flight behaviour and vision research.
