41. Recruitment and understorey herb dynamics in deciduous and mixed coniferous forest
Sammanfattning : The distribution and abundance of plant species is determined by the ability to disperse, recruit and persist in a suitable habitat. Plant-animal interactions influence recruitment by reducing seeds and seedlings through predation and herbivory. LÄS MER
42. Optimizing mechanical ventilation in extremely preterm infants
Sammanfattning : Extremely low gestational age newborns (ELGANs) i.e. infants born before 28 weeks of gestational age (GA), require respiratory support during their hospital stay, and a majority needs mechanical ventilation (MV) at some time point. LÄS MER

44. Cerebral Injury in Perinatal Asphyxia, epidemiological, clinical, neurophysiological and neuromatabolic investigations
Sammanfattning : Perinatal asphyxia with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is the most important cause of perinatal mortality and cerebral palsy (CP) in infants born at term. The aim of the thesis was to investigate epidemiology of perinatal asphyxia, and to investigate early clinical neurological symptoms after perinatal asphyxia in relation to cerebral glucose metabolism (CMRgl) measured by 18-FDG-PET, neurophysiological function, some biochemical markers, also in relation to long-term outcome. 45. Obesity-associated inflammation in adipose tissue
Sammanfattning : Background: Excess body fat, particularly in the visceral depot, is linked to increased mortality and morbidity, including the development of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Chronic low-grade inflammation in adipose tissue may be a key mediator of obesity-associated diseases. LÄS MER
