  1. 21. The effect of scale on the morphology, mechanics and transmissivity of single rock fractures

    Författare :Nader Fardin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Anisotropy; Aperture; Asperity degradation; Contact area; Finite Element Method FEM ; Flow analysis; Fractals; Fracture morphology; Heterogeneity; Stress-deformation; Surface roughness; Roughness-Length method; Scale dependency; Stationarity; Transm;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the effect of scale on themorphology, mechanics and transmissivity of single rockfractures using both laboratory and in-situ experiments, aswell as numerical simulations. Using a laboratory 3D laserscanner, the surface topography of a large silicon-rubberfracture replica of size 1m x 1m, as well as the topography ofboth surfaces of several high-strength concrete fracturereplicas varying in size from 50mmx50mm to 200mm x 200mm, werescanned. 2. 22. Fundamental Studies on Molecularly Imprinted Materials

    Författare :Kerstin Golker; Ian A. Nicholls; Ken J. Shea; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemometrics; molecular dynamics; molecularly imprinted polymer; molecular imprinting; morphology; polymer; principal component analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis focuses on fundamental studies aimed at elucidating factors that influence molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) formation and ligand recognition. To this end, a series of computational techniques, in particular chemometrics and molecular dynamics (MD) in conjunction with polymer synthesis and physical characterization studies have been employed. 3. 23. Dentofacial morphology in Turner Syndrome karyotypes

    Författare :Sara Rizell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontics; Turner syndrome; genetics; karyotype; geno-phanotype correlation; anthropometrics; craniofacial morphology; dental arch; dental crown width; enamel; primary teeth; elemental composition;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study dentofacial morphology in Turner syndrome (TS) versus controls and the influence hereupon from karyotype. One hundred thirty two TS females (5-66 years of age), from Göteborg, Uppsala and Umeå were participating. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Gräddat : Brödkultur under järnåldern i östra Mälardalen

    Författare :Liselotte Bergström; Gustaf Trotzig; Neil Price; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Carbonised bread; food culture; Mälar Valley; Helgö; Birka; morphology; cell-structure analysis; reconstructive examination; gender; Roman Iron Age; Migration period; Vendel period; Viking Age; Archaeology; Arkeologi; Archaeological Science; laborativ arkeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the carbonised bread findings from sites and cremation graves dated to the first millennium AD occurring in the eastern Mälar Valley region. The finds have been analysed by various methods including cell-structure analysis, chemical analysis, experimental and reconstructive examination, 14C-dating and statistical comparison. LÄS MER

    Författare :Irene Brusini; Chunliang Wang; Örjan Smedby; Eric Westman; Lars-Olof Wahlund; Jorge Cardoso; KTH; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Brain MRI; Image Segmentation; Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Shape Analysis; Aging; Neurodegeneration; MRT av hjärnan; Bildsegmentering; Maskininlärning; Djupinlärning; Formanalys; Åldrande; Neurodegeneration; Medical Technology; Medicinsk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging modality that produces detailed images of the brain without using any ionizing radiation. From a structural MRI scan, it is possible to extract morphological properties of different brain regions, such as their volume and shape. LÄS MER
