1. Studies in Latvian Comparative Dialectology : —with special focus on word-final *–āj(s)/*–ēj(s) and *–āji(s)/*–ēji(s)
Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of four interconnected studies of various topics in the fields of Latvian dialectology and historical linguistics: (1) apocope and shortening; (2) loss of the present 2nd singular endings *?i and *??; (3) the development of the participle desinences *??jis *??jis; (4) the ??and ??stem locative singular endings. A recurrent theme is a potential loss of *j in the phonological sequences *??ji(s) *??ji(s), which were subsequently contracted to *??j(s) *??j(s). LÄS MER
2. On aircraft fuel systems : conceptual design and modeling
Sammanfattning : The largest and most important fluid system in an aircraft is the fuel system. Obviously, future aircraft projects involve the design of fuel system to some degree. In this project design methodologies for aircraft fuel systems are studied, with the aim to shortening the system development time. LÄS MER
3. Experimental studies of small intestinal permeability and function in uremia
Sammanfattning : The intestinal permeability has been investigated in experimental chronic and acute uremia in rats. The permeability and the mucosal ability to exclude larger molecules have been measured using differently sized polyethylene glycols (PEG 400 and 1000: mean weights of 400 and 1000 dalton, range 326-1162 dalton). 4. Multifunctional Supramolecular Organic Ferroelectrics
Sammanfattning : Ferroelectric materials are known and valued for their multifunctionality arising from the possibility to perturb the remnant ferroelectric polarization by electric field, temperature and/or mechanical stimuli. While inorganic ferroelectrics dominate the current market, their organic counterparts may provide highly desired properties like eco-friendliness, easy processability and flexibility, concomitantly opening unique opportunities to combine multiple functionalities into a single compound that facilitates unprecedented device concepts and designs.
