11. Elliptical Adaptive Structuring Elements for Mathematical Morphology
Sammanfattning : As technological advances drives the evolution of sensors as well as the systems using them, processing and analysis of multi-dimensional signals such as images becomes more and more common in a wide range of applications ranging from consumer products to automated systems in process industry. Image processing is often needed to enhance or suppress features in the acquired data, enabling better analysis of the signals and thereby better use of the system in question. LÄS MER

13. Solution Chemistry and Morphological Properties for Organic Solar Cells : Exploring Alternative Solvents Using Microgravity and Modelling as Tools
Sammanfattning : Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have the advantage of the accessibility of energy for all, due to facile and low-cost processing, with its low energy payback time compared to other technologies, therefore promising applications. Research and development have led to power conversion efficiencies of nearly 20% and now catching up to their inorganic counterparts. LÄS MER
14. Improved high velocity cold copaction processing : polymer powder to high performance parts
Sammanfattning : A uniaxial High-Velocity Compaction (HVC) process for polymer powder using a cylindrical, hardened steel die and a new technique with relaxation assist was tested with a focus on the compactibility characteristics and surface morphology of the compacted materials using various heights of relaxation assist device with different compacting profiles. Relaxation assist device was presented as a new technique to reduce springback, pull-out phenomenon and to improve the compaction process. LÄS MER
15. Development of quantitative optical microscopy methods for single cell analysis
Sammanfattning : Optical microscopy has brought powerful methods to biological research, in particular the possibility to assay dynamic molecular processes within living individual cells. This thesis deals with various aspects of fluorescence and Raman microscopy, such as the possibility of avoiding cellular damage or stress caused by illumination, how to manipulate single cells for spectroscopic analysis and how to quantify images automatically.
