  1. 16. The nurse-patient encounter and the patients' state: Effects of individual care and clinical group supervision in dementia care

    Författare :Anna-Karin Edberg; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; demanding behaviour; mood; nursing home; clinical supervision; nursing care quality; patient care planning; support; nurse-patient relations; nursing care; Communication; dementia; quasi-experimental research; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of thesis was to investigate the nurse-patient encounter in dementia care (n=9 patients), functional and cognitive ability, behaviours and mood of the patients as well as the reliability of the instruments used (n=75 nursing home patients). A further aim was to investigate the effects on the aspects mentioned above of a one-year controlled intervention (individually planned care and clinical group supervision) on one ward (EW) in comparison to a control ward (CW), each housing 11 patients. 2. 17. Genetic studies in mood disorders

    Författare :Magnus Lekman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mood disorders, including bipolar disorder (BPD) and major depressive disorder (MDD), are highly complex psychiatric disorders. Decades of genetic studies have generated a large number of putative genetic susceptibility variants. However, with exception of CACNA1C, SYNE1 and ANK3 in BPD no robust association has as yet been identified. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Nerve conduction and vibrotactile perception thresholds in female computer workers and hand-arm vibration-exposed male manual workers

    Författare :Helena Sandén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Computer use; Hand-arm vibration; Chronic upper limb pain; Nerve conduction; Vibrotactile perception threshold; Mood; Bicycle ergometer test; Temperature;

    Sammanfattning : Upper limb pain and disability are common problems, especially among working populations. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate peripheral nerve function in the upper limb by nerve conduction test and vibration threshold test in working populations including female computer users (n = 82), hand-arm vibration-exposed male manual workers (n = 116), and female workers with chronic diffuse upper limb pain (n = 35). 4. 19. Non-image-forming effects of light : Implications for the design of living and working environments

    Författare :Mathias Adamsson; Thorbjörn Laike; Maria Johansson; Yvonne de Kort; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; circadian rhythms; circannual; light exposure; melatonin; cortisol; sleep-wake behavior; perception; mood; spectral composition; measurement;

    Sammanfattning : Seasonal variation in mood and subjective well-being are common at geographical locations further away from the equator. The 24-h light-dark cycle is the main time cue for synchronizing the human circadian clock to the external day and night. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Effects of Vagus Nerve Stimulation and Ketogenic Diet on Quality of Life and Changes in EEG and Sleep

    Författare :Tove Hallböök; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vagus nerve stimulation; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; behaviour; attention; ketogenic diet; delta power; slow wave sleep; REM; mood; sleep; quality of life; EEG; seizure frequency; spike detection; children; neurofysiologi; Pediatri; epilepsy; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : When anti-epileptic drugs fail, and epilepsy surgery is found unfeasible or ineffective, there remains a group of at least 25% of children with epilepsy in whom seizure control cannot be achieved. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is an adjunctive treatment for medically refractory epilepsy. LÄS MER
