  1. 1. Magnetic bead-based isolation of biological therapeutic modalities

    Författare :Nils A. Brechmann; Véronique Chotteau; Nigel Titchener-Hooker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic bead separation; Magnetic beads; Protein A; Protein G; Negative cell isolation; Monoclonal antibody; induced pluripotent stem cells; human mesenchymal stem cells; Allogenic cell therapy; Biomanufacturing; cell clarification; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Biopharmaceutical modalities, such as monoclonal antibodies or the less established cell therapies, are nowadays very important for the treatment of severe or incurable diseases. The manufacturing of such modalities is complex and costly, including the downstream processing, which is highly essential to ensure the safety and quality of the product. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of mathematical modelling for the glycosylation of IgG in CHO cell cultures

    Författare :Liang Zhang; Véronique Chotteau; Michael J. Betenbaugh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chinese hamster ovary cells; glycosylation; IgG; mathematical modelling; experimental design; perfusion; carbon sources; GReBA; Bayesian network; probabilistic graphic model; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the most popular expression system for the production of biopharmaceuticals. More than 80% of the approved monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) or immunoglobulin G (IgG) are produced with these cells. Glycosylation is a usual post- translational modification important for therapeutic mAbs. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Image Processing for Quantitative Scintillation-Camera Imaging. Application to Radionuclide Therapy

    Författare :Katarina Sjögreen Gleisner; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; 131-I; Clinical physics; SPECT; conjugate-view; volume quantification; activity quantification; image registration; image segmentation; medicinsk instrumentering; Nuclear medicine; radiobiology; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiologi; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Individual-based determinations of the absorbed dose in radionuclide therapy largely rely on absolute measurement of the activity distribution and its redistribution over time. Scintillation-camera imaging is the most commonly employed measuring technique, applied in planar or SPECT mode, sometimes in combination with structural images from CT. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic analyses of multiple myeloma and related plasma cell dyscrasias

    Författare :Therese Nilsson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetik; cytogenetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; FISH; cytogenetic; multiple myeloma; MGUS;

    Sammanfattning : Acquired genetic changes have proved to be of diagnostic and prognostic importance in different hematologic malignancies as well as in some solid tumor types. However, although multiple myeloma (MM), an incurable disease, and its proceeding stage monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) are quite common, little is known about the karyotypic features of these plasma cell dyscrasias. 5. 5. SOD1 misfolding and aggregation in ALS : in the light of conformation-specific antibodies

    Författare :Manuela Lehmann; Jonathan D. Gilthorpe; Stefan L. Marklund; Thomas Brännström; Ulrika Nordström; Elizabeth Fisher; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALS; antibodies; SOD1; disordered SOD1; patient-derived models; low oxygen tension; Immunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene are linked to the progressive neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS-associated mutations affect the stability of the SOD1 protein and promote its unfolding. As a consequence, disordered SOD1 species can misfold and accumulate into insoluble aggregates. LÄS MER
