  1. 1. The importance of monocyte and granulocyte activation in rheumatoid arthritis and primary Sjögren's syndrome

    Författare :Ingunn Torsteinsdóttir; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Rheumatoid arthritis; primary Sjögren s syndrome; peripheral blood; monocyte; macrophage; neutrophil; eosinophil; adhesion; phagocytosis; respiratory burst; CRP; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Macrophages and neutrophils infiltrate the synovium and synovial fluid in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). These cells are considered to contribute to the destructive process in RA.The expression of adhesion and phagocytosis receptors on the surface of peripheral granulocytes and monocytes was increased in patients with RA. 2. 2. Disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis : Studies in interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor alpha, monocyte activity, acute phase markers, glucocorticoids, and disability

    Författare :Nils Gunnar Arvidson; Anders Larsson; Arvi Larsen; Øystein Førre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; acute phase markers; circadian rhythm; disability; disease activity; glucocorticoids; monocyte activation; rheumatoid arthritis; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : In the present studies, aspects of some disease activity measures in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been investigated, including the effect of glucocorticoids on this activity. In RA, serum interleukin(IL)-6 levels were elevated and were shown to have a circadian rhythm, with peak levels in the morning, declining towards low or normal levels in the afternoon and evening. 3. 3. The role of granulocyte antibodies in monocyte and granulocyte activation

    Författare :Agneta Wikman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ANCA; adhesion molecules; CD11b; CD62L; granulocyte antibodies; granulocytes; monocytes; systemic vasculitis;

    Sammanfattning : Granulocytes and monocytes are important cells during the first phase of inflammation. They are activated and recruited from the blood vessels to inflammatory sites via the regulation of receptors involved in adhesion to endothelium. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modulation of cytokine production by mononuclear cells in allergic inflammation. The effects of allergen exposure and anti-inflammatory agents

    Författare :Katarzyna Wosinska-Becler; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytokines; seasonal allergy; kinetics; CysLTR1 antagonist; montelukast; rush immunotherapy; monocyte; basophil; eosinophil; NK cell; T cell;

    Sammanfattning : In pollen-sensitized subjects, seasonal allergen exposure results in clinical allergic disease, which in affected tissues displays a morphological picture typical of chronic inflammation. The cellular responses to allergens include the production of inflammatory cytokines that can be examined in peripheral blood cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies on receptors for modified LDL in human monocytes and macrophages : a link between diabetes and atherosclerosis?

    Författare :Linda Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atherosclerosis; diabetes CD14; CD36; CD64; fatty acid; flow cytometry; macrophage; monocyte; scavenger receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes increases the risk for cardiovascular disease three- to fourfold. Because of the rise in diabetes prevalence there is a need for a better understanding of the link between diabetes and atherosclerosis. LÄS MER
