  1. 1. Dynamics of Human Leukocyte Antigen-D Related expression in bacteremic sepsis

    Författare :Sara Cajander; Jan Källman; Kristoffer Strålin; Bo Söderquist; Per Åkesson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; monocyte HLA-DR; sepsis; immunosuppression; bloodstream infection; HLA-DRA; CIITA; qRT-PCR;

    Sammanfattning : Monocytic human leukocyte antigen-D related (mHLA-DR) expression determined by flow cytometry has been suggested as a biomarker of sepsisinduced immunosuppression.In order to facilitate use of HLA-DR in clinical practice, a quantitative real-time PCR technique measuring HLA-DR at the transcription level was developed and evalutated. 2. 2. Tumor-mediated changes in the immune system of cancer patients : a balancing act between suppressors and effectors

    Författare :Isabel Poschke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tumors and immune cells interact in many ways: immune cells can recognize and even kill tumor cells, while the tumor on the other hand can induce cells of the immune system to participate in tumor-mediated immune subversion. We studied immunosuppressive effects that human tumors exert on immune effector cells, particularly T cells, by inducing suppressive myeloid cells and decreasing T cell functional capacity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The inflammatory response in extravasated leukocytes in patients with coronary artery disease

    Författare :Josefin Paulsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a manifestation of a chronic inflammation in the coronary arteries. The inflammatory process results in accumulation of monocyte derived cells and formation of atherosclerotic plaques in the intima of the vessel wall. LÄS MER

  4. 4. CTLA-4 expression, regulation and associations in autoimmune myasthenia gravis

    Författare :XiongBiao Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cytotoxic-T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 CTLA-4 ; Myasthenia gravis MG ; Immune inhibitory receptor; Autoimmune disease; Genetic polymorphism.;

    Sammanfattning : Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease with muscle weakness due to an autoimmune attack against the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) on the skeletal muscle endplate. Cytotoxic-T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) plays a global inhibitory role in the immune system and has a crucial role in autoimmunity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exosomes : nano-vesicles in immune regulation

    Författare :Sara M Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nano-vesicles (30-100 nm) with an endosome-derived limiting membrane are called exosomes. These are released from the cell when the endosome fuses with the outer cell membrane. Exosomes from antigen presenting cells (APC) carry MHC class I and class II as well as integrins, tetraspanins and co-stimulatory molecules. LÄS MER
