11. Microarray Technology for Genotyping in Pharmacogenetics
Sammanfattning : The studies in this thesis describe the development of a microarray based minisequencing system and its application to highly parallel genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms. The technical developments included identification of a three-dimensional microarray surface coating with high binding capacity for oligonucleotides modified with amino groups as the most optimal one for the system. 12. Methods for Analysis of Disease Associated Genomic Sequence Variation
Sammanfattning : In Molecular Medicine a wide range of methods are applied to analyze the genome to find genetic predictors of human disease. Apart from predisposing disease, genetic variations may also serve as genetic markers in the search for factors underlying complex diseases. LÄS MER
13. Exercise training in genetic models of heart failure : mice with congenital disruption of the muscle LIM protein (MLP) or inducible cardiomyocyte-specific disruption of the sarco(endo)plasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA2)

14. Characterizing the pancreatic "isletome" : 3D optical imaging to study diabetes
Sammanfattning : The pancreas is a specialised multipurpose organ, that can be separated into two major compartments: endocrine and exocrine. The exocrine part makes up the majority of the organ volume and functions to secrete digestive enzymes into the small intestine. LÄS MER
15. Drugs and polymers in dissolving solid dispersions : NMR imaging and spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The number of poorly water-soluble drug substances in the pharmaceutical pipeline is increasing, and thereby also the need to design effective drug delivery systems providing high bioavailability. One favourable formulation approach is preparation of solid dispersions, where dispersing a poorly water-soluble drug in a water-soluble polymer matrix improves the dissolution behaviour and the bioavailability of the drug.
