    Sammanfattning : The integrin family of cell surface receptors is evolutionary conserved and found in all multicellular animals. In humans 8-alpha and 18-beta integrins are non-covalently associated into 24 dimers. Integrins mediate cell-extracellular matrix and cell-cell interactions and participate in cell signalling. 2. 2. Protein tyrosine kinases and the regulation of signalling and adhesion in drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Caroline Grabbe; Ruth Palmer; Tapio Heino; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; Signalling; Adhesion; Protein Tyrosine Kinase; Development; Endocytosis; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to build a multi-cellular organism and to regulate cellular functions, cells need to communicate with each other, as well as tightly regulate their behaviour in response to environmental changes. For these purposes all eukaryotic cells express a large number of membrane spanning receptors that either themselves contain catalytic activity or via cytoplasmic effector enzymes, function to transmit “signals” from the cell exterior to induce appropriate responses within the cell. Sammanfattning : Two-dimensional (2D) nanocomposites based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and 2D nanomaterials are of interest as sustainable materials combining functional and structural properties. To achieve reinforcement effects from 2D nanomaterials, their orientation and dispersion state in the CNF matrix are important. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are one of the largest protein families in mammals. GPCRs are instrumental for hormonal and neurotransmitter signalling and are important in all major physiological systems of the body. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transmigration of Toxoplasma gondii across biological barriers

    Författare :Emily C. Ross; Antonio Barragan; Ildiko Rita Dunay; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that can likely infect all warm-blooded vertebrates, with estimates of up to 30% of the global human population being infected. Although infection with T. gondii is usually asymptomatic or mild, in immunocompromised individuals infection can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis. LÄS MER
