6. Non-invasive monitoring of low molecular weight biomarkers relevant to skin inflammation and cancer
Sammanfattning : Development of skin inflammation and cancer in viable epidermis and dermis involve slow molecular weight (LMW) metabolites. We hypothesize that these LMW compounds can be collected on the surface of the skin and used for non-invasive diagnostics of skin disorders. LÄS MER
7. Chiral Separation of Amines by Non-Aqueous Capillary Electrophoresis using Low Molecular Weight Selectors
Sammanfattning : Three chiral selectors (diketogulonic acid, benzoxycarbonylglycylproline and ketopinic acid) have been introduced for enantioseparation of pharmacologically active amines in non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis. The use of organic solvents, instead of aqueous buffers in the background electrolyte facilitated ion-pair formation between the analytes and the chiral selectors. LÄS MER
8. Effects of Processing on Dietary Fibre in Vegetables
Sammanfattning : Several beneficial effects have been connected with dietary fibre. Insoluble fibre has a good faecal bulking capacity, whereas soluble and viscous dietary fibre has been shown to have beneficial effects on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. LÄS MER
9. Synthesis and transformation of some low molecular weight carbohydrates
Sammanfattning : A one-step transformation of hydroxyl groups in carbohydrates to bromo groups is presented. The usefulness of ρ-methoxybenzyl as a protecting group of the anomeric center is examined. Reductive elimination by treatment of acetylated deoxyhalo sugar derivatives using zinc powder in ethanol containing acetic acid to give unsaturation is described. LÄS MER
10. Structural studies of two bacterial polysaccharide antigens : synthesis and chemical modification of low molecular weight carbohydrates
Sammanfattning : The structures of two bacterial antigens, one a capsular polysaccharide from Klebsiella K66 and the other a lipopolysaccharide from Escherichia coli 0:6, have been determined, using specific degradations and spectrochemical studies. Two glycosidation methods are described. LÄS MER
