  1. 1. Molecular filtration : the study of adsorbents

    Författare :Ebenezer Twumasi; Christer Sjöström; Paolo Tronville; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adsorbents; activated carbon; alumina; MgCa-silica; carbon-silica composite; characterization; porous parameters; molecular filtration; Other civil engineering and architecture; Övrig samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Adsorbent materials for gas purification have been studied and developed for application in many areas. It is known that a single adsorbent may not adequately control multiple contaminants. Therefore, the development of adsorbent materials has accelerated over the past two decades, and is today an area attracting a lot of attention. LÄS MER

  2. 2. SOD1 Aggregation : Relevance of thermodynamic stability

    Författare :Lisa Lang; Mikael Oliveberg; Michele Vendruscolo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aggregation; misfolding; Superoxide dismutase SOD1 ; Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ALS ; unfolding; thermodynamic stability; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease affecting the upper and lower motor neurons causing muscle atrophy and paralysis followed by death. Aggregates containing superoxide dismutase (SOD1) are found as pathological hallmark in diseased ALS patients. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Spatial control of mRNA stability in yeast

    Författare :Susanne Huch; Tracy Nissan; Anders Byström; Anders Virtanen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mRNA stability; P bodies; mRNA turnover; gene regulation; decapping factors; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The degradation of mRNA is an important modulator of gene expression and the ultimate fate of messenger mRNA. Important steps in the degradation of mRNA include initial shortening of its poly(A) tail followed by the subsequent removal of the m7G cap. These two processes are linked temporally as well as spatially. LÄS MER

  4. 4. New Molecular Approaches to Glioblastoma Therapy

    Författare :Sathishkumar Baskaran; Sven Nelander; Karin Forsberg Nilsson; Silvia Marino; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common high-grade brain tumor diagnosed in patients who are more than 50 years of age. The standard of care treatment is surgery, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The median life expectancy of patients is only between 12 to 15 months after receiving current treatment regimes. 5. 5. Numerical simulation of the dynamics of a trapped molecular ion

    Författare :Avazeh Hashemloo; Claude Dion; Michael Drewsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diatomic molecular ion; linear Paul trap; rigid rotor; quantum rotational dynamics; wave-packet dynamics; time-dependent Schrödinger equation; stability;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the dynamics of a heteronuclear diatomic molecular ion, possessing a permanent electric dipole moment, µ, which is trapped in a linear Paul trap and can interact with an off-resonance laser field. To build our model we use the rigid-rotor approximation, where the dynamics of the molecular ion are limited to its translational and rotational motions of the center-of-mass. LÄS MER
