1. A molecular characterization of selected cecropins and cysteine proteinases in Drosophila
Sammanfattning : Insects that have been infected with bacteria produce antibacterial peptides. Among the most potent antibacterial peptides in Drosophila are the cecropins. This work describes the cloning and expression studies of the CecC gene, which completes the picture of the cecropin locus in Drosophila melanogaster. LÄS MER
2. Molecular Cloning and Functional Characterization of Factors Involved in Post-transcriptional Gene Expression
Sammanfattning : Gene expression in the eukaryotic cell is a fundamental cellular process, which consists of several distinct steps but extensively coupled to each other. From site of transcription in the nucleus to the cytoplasm, both mRNA and rRNA are associated with a proper set of proteins. LÄS MER
3. The cholecystokinin receptor family : molecular cloning and pharmacological characterization
Sammanfattning : Cholecystokinin (CCK) and gastrin are hormones/neurotransmittors of the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. The receptors for gastrin and CCK are members of the G protein-coupled receptor family. The aim of this study was to clone and pharmacologically characterize vertebrate and invertebrate CCK receptors and splice variants. LÄS MER
4. Glutathione transferases : molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis and structure-function studies
Sammanfattning : Three distinct glutathione transferases (GST) cDNA clones were obtained by screening of tumour cell line cDNA libraries. The cDNA clones were expressed in Escherichia coli and the enzymes characterized. Rat GST 8-8 is the only member in the multifunctional GST family for which a specific cellular function has been proposed. LÄS MER
5. Molecular analysis of the oral microbiota of dental diseases
Sammanfattning : Traditionally, bacterial culture has been used for bacterial detection, allowing study of living microorganisms. Molecular methods are rapid and allow simultaneous identification of numerous species and uncultivated phylotypes. LÄS MER
