    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Sathishkumar Baskaran; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma; GBM; ZBTB16; PLZF; Heterogeneity; Proteasome inhibitors; Bortezomib; Pterostilbene; drug combinations; Oncology; Onkologi; Biological Research on Drug Dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common high-grade brain tumor diagnosed in patients who are more than 50 years of age. The standard of care treatment is surgery, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The median life expectancy of patients is only between 12 to 15 months after receiving current treatment regimes.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin resistance; diabetes; insulin secretion; cardiovascular; mendelian randomization; proteomics; metabolomics; genomics; molecular epidemiology; complex disease; risk prediction; coronary heart disease; stroke; hyperglycemia;

    Sammanfattning : The worldwide increasing number of persons affected by largely preventable diseases like diabetes demands better prevention and treatment. Insulin is required for effective utilisation of circulating nutrients. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The role of gamma-tubulin in cell division and cancer

    Detta är en avhandling från Faculty of Medicine, Translational Medicine, Molecular Pathology

    Författare :Greta Eklund; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Although cancer is a heterogeneous disease, a common theme in tumor cells is the deregulation of cell division, which renders tumor progression independent of otherwise necessary internal or external growth cues. This may provide cancer cells with the ability to divide indefinitely, posing a threat to the rest of the organism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Translational studies on acute myeloid leukemia focus on the receptor tyrosine kinase FLT3

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University, Faculty of Medicine

    Författare :Alissa Marhäll; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2018]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; AML; FLT3;

    Sammanfattning : Among adults, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the second most frequent type of leukemia. In spite of recent improvements in the treatment of this disease, a majority of patients develop drug resistance, leading to poor overall survival. One of the factors behind this is mutations in the tyrosine kinase receptor (FLT3). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tumour evolution and novel biomarkers in breast cancer

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University, Faculty of Medicine

    Författare :Jana Biermann; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2019]

    Sammanfattning : Several gene signatures have been proposed in the past two decades to improve outcome prediction for breast cancer patients and to guide treatment decisions. Current treatment guidelines, however, primarily focus on established clinicopathological features. LÄS MER
