    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on the synthesis of oxindole- and indole-derivatives incorporating pyrrolidins, pyrroles or imidazoles moieties. Pyrrolidino-2-spiro-3'-oxindole derivatives have been prepared in high yielding three-component reactions between isatin, alpha-amino acid derivatives, and suitable dipolarophiles. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes structural studies of the oligosaccharide and lipid A moieties of lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) isolated from disease-causing Haemophilus influenzae strains. The nontypeable strains were clinical isolates from the middle ear of children suffering from otitis media and the serotype f strains had been collected from three adults with respiratory tract infections.     Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns development of new methods for metal‐free arylations in organic synthesis. The protocols discussed in the thesis are based on a class of hypervalent iodine compounds called diaryliodonium salts. These reagents are known to transfer aryl moieties to suitable nucleophiles.     Sammanfattning : The Tröger’s base framework has been implemented in two different receptors. The first of these receptors, incorporating two 18-crown-6 moities, was used as a host in a binding study together with a sieries of bisammonium salts that yielded different binding constants that were then used as a benchmark to compare different computational methods (Molecular Mechanics (MM) and Density Functional Theory (DFT)) in predicting the correct results where the MM methods proved more effective.     Sammanfattning : The reactivity of the phosphine-thioether ligands bis(2-diphenylphosphino) ethylthio)ethane (PSSP), bis(2-(diphenylphosphino) ethyl)sulfane (PSP), PPh2CH2CH2SMe (PS), PPh2(o-C6H4SMe (PortoS), and PPh(o-C6H4SMe)2 (PSS) towards low-valent carbonyl clusters has been studied.
