6. Controlled Release Gel Formulations for Mucosal Drug Delivery
Sammanfattning : Drug delivery to nasal or ocular mucosa for either local or systemic action faces many obstacles – these routes are protected by effective mechanisms. Gel formulations with suitable rheological and mucoadhesive properties increase the contact time at the site of absorption. LÄS MER
7. Submicron Calcium Phosphate Spheres for Biomedical Applications : Synthesis and Use
Sammanfattning : Calcium phosphate spheres as biomaterials have been attracting attention in recent years. Calcium phosphate occurs naturally in bone, and a hollow structure could be advantageous for drug loading and release. LÄS MER
8. Mesoporous Silica SBA-15 - Formation, Modification and Application
Sammanfattning : Several aspects related to the mesoporous silica material SBA-15 have been studied through the use of a wide range of experimental techniques, including low voltage high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, small angle X-ray scattering and nitrogen sorption. This work contains three parts, which are in many ways overlapping. LÄS MER
9. Advanced Methods for Evaluation of the Performance of Complex Drug Delivery System
Sammanfattning : Low oral bioavailability of drugs originating from poor aqueous solubility is a common issue in drug development. Various enabling formulations have been presented to circumvent this limitation, many making use of supersaturation. In these, the drug is delivered to the gastro-intestinal lumen in a high energy state e.g. LÄS MER
10. Environment-Sensitive Multifunctional Drug Delivery Systems
Sammanfattning : Drug delivery systems (DDS) with multiple functionalities such as environment-sensitive drug release mechanisms and visualization agents have motivated the biomedical community as well as materials chemists for more than a decade. This dissertation is concerned with the development of nanoparticles for multifunctional DDS to tackle several crucial challenges in these complex systems, including polymeric nanospheres which respond to temperature change, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles/polymeric composite for magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents and drug carriers, immunoresponse of nanomaterials and injectable magnetic field sensitive ferrogels.
