   Sammanfattning : This book examines and analyses the Union between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Sweden signed in 1655 at Kėdainiai and the political crisis that followed. The union was a result of strong separatist dreams among the Lithuanian-Ruthenian Protestant elite led by the Radziwiłł family, and if implemented it would radically change the balance of power in the Baltic Sea region. The period has often been characterised as inert and immobile, with especially middling and poorer people living in a sartorially drab world, but a number of historians have demonstrated that it was also a period of profound material change, with consumer demand, democratisation of fashion and global trade engendering cosmopolitan sensibilities earlier than thought.    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a history of man’s and nature’s relationship, with regards to water. It is an environmental history about the changes in the wetland landscape around the Lakes Hjälmaren and Kvismaren in central Sweden during the 19th and 20th century. Hjälmaren, Sweden’s fourth-largest lake, was lowered between 1878 and 1888. LÄS MER
