1. Tactile Perception : Role of Friction and Texture
Sammanfattning : Tactile perception is considered an important contributor to the overall consumer experience of a product. However, what physical properties that create the specifics of tactile perception, are still not completely understood. LÄS MER
2. The creation of antibacterial fibres through physical adsorption of polyelectrolytes
Sammanfattning : Contact-active antibacterial surfaces with irreversibly attached antibacterial com-pounds are a sustainable alternative to traditional biocides. No chemicals are released into nature and the antibacterial mechanism reduces the risk of the evolution of re-sistant bacteria. LÄS MER
3. Biolubricants and Biolubrication
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the principles of biolubrication, focusing on synergistic effects between biolubricants. To this end surface force and friction measurements were carried out by means of Atomic Force Microscopy, using hydrophilic and hydrophobic model surfaces in salt solutions of high ionic strength (≈ 150 mM) in presence of different biolubricants. 4. Interactions between non-polar surfaces in water: Fokus on talc, pitch and surface roughness effects
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the interactions between talc mineral and surfaces, liquids and chemicals relevant for industrial applications, such as pulp and paper. Talc is used in the pulp and paper industry as a filler pigment, in control of pitch (lipophilic extractives) deposits and as a coating pigment. LÄS MER
5. Impact of Surface Structures onDeposition and Erosion in a Tokamak
Sammanfattning : Fusion is a potentially unlimited and environmentally friendly energy source for human society in the future. However, along the way towards the application of fusion energy there are still unresolved complications. Among them, deposition and erosion are two critical issues. LÄS MER
