1. Structural Health Monitoring of Bridges : Model-free damage detection method using Machine Learning
Sammanfattning : This is probably the most appropriate time for the development of robust and reliable structural damage detection systems as aging civil engineering structures, such as bridges, are being used past their life expectancy and beyond their original design loads. Often, when a significant damage to the structure is discovered, the deterioration has already progressed far and required repair is substantial. LÄS MER
2. A model-free voting approach to cue integration
Sammanfattning : Vision systems, such as "seeing" robots, should be able tooperate robustly in generic environments. In this thesis, weinvestigate certain aspects of how these demands of robusmessof a systems approach to vision could be met. LÄS MER
3. Model-free execution monitoring in behavior-based mobile robotics
Sammanfattning : In the near future, autonomous mobile robots are expected to assist us by performing service tasks in many different areas, including transportation, cleaning, mining, or agriculture. In order to manage these tasks in a changing and partially unpredictable environment, without the help of humans, the robot must have the ability to plan its actions and to execute them robustly and in a safe way. 4. Isoconversional analysis for the prediction of mass-loss rates during pyrolysis of biomass
Sammanfattning : Biomass is the only renewable carbon source that can compete with fossil energy sources in terms of production of materials, chemicals and fuels. Biomass can be transformed into charcoal, liquid and gas through pyrolysis, i.e. pure thermal decomposition. LÄS MER
5. Molecular recognition and dynamics in proteins studied by NMR
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1).
