1. Systematic planning and execution of finite element model updating
Sammanfattning : In design of bridges and for estimation of dynamic properties and load carrying capacity Finite Element Method (FEM) is often used as a tool. The physical quantities used in the Finite Element (FE) model are often connected to varying degrees of uncertainty. LÄS MER
2. Magnetic dipole excitations in even-even nuclei
Sammanfattning : The properties of K(pi) = 1+ states in deformed even-even rare-earth nuclei have been investigated within the Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA). The B(M1) spectrum and the differential cross section for electron scattering have been calculated and are seen to be consistent with the interpretation that the experimental 1+ states first considered to be a scissors mode, actually correspond to slightly collective states with the main proton components coming from positive parity proton states. 3. Development of Analytical Methods for Measurement of Drugs against Malaria in Plasma and Whole Blood
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop analytical methods for measuring drugs in blood and/or plasma. Solid phase extraction was used for the enrichment and purification of the drugs from the sample matrix. LÄS MER
4. Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering Studies on Quasi-Two-Dimensional Superconducting Materials
Sammanfattning : Unconventional superconductivity is one of the many fascinating research areas of condensed matter physics. Understanding the superconducting pairing mechanism and its connection with other competing states remains unclear. LÄS MER
5. Experimental Design and Updating of Finite Element Models
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with two partly related topics: model updating and actuator/sensor placement concerning finite element (FE) models of large, flexible mechanical structures. The importance of accurate dynamical FE models of mechanical structures in, e.g., aviation/aerospace applications are steadily increasing.
