  1. 1. Remediation of materials with mixed contaminants : treatability, technology and final disposal

    Författare :Kristin Elgh-Dalgren; Patrick van Hees; Bert Allard; Dan Berggren Kleja; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioremediation; Microtox®; mixed contaminants; re-cycling; soil remediation; soil washing.; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Contaminated soils are a large issue worldwide and much effort has been made to find efficient remediation methods. At many contaminated sites, mixtures of different contaminants with different properties are present, which may lead to additional problems, and thus additional costs, during the remediation process. 2. 2. Carbon materials: towards a circular economy through thermochemical recycling of mixed waste

    Författare :Isabel Cañete Vela; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plastic waste; circular economy; thermochemical recycling; mixed waste; recycling; Carbon materials; steam cracking;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon-containing materials, such as paper, wood, plastic, and textiles, are essential for our daily lives, being used in everything from clothing to infrastructure. However, their use typically follows a linear pattern, in that we extract carbon resources, create products, and eventually dispose of them, thereby contributing to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the supply chain. 3. 3. Mixed fuels composed of household waste and waste wood : Characterization, combustion behaviour and potential emissions

    Författare :Mar Edo Giménez; Stina Jansson; Jonas Dahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MSW; RDF; persistent organic pollutants; PCDD; PCDF; solid waste pre-treatment; torrefaction; food waste; contaminated wood;

    Sammanfattning :    Incineration with energy recovery is the main disposal strategy for waste that cannot be reused or recycled, and a well-established source of energy in Europe, especially in Sweden where 2.2 Mtonnes of waste including domestic and imported municipal solid waste (MSW) and waste wood (WW) were combusted during 2015. 4. 4. Dispersal and environmental impact of contaminants in organic rich, fibrous sediments of industrial origin in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Anna Apler; Ian Snowball; Karin Wiberg; Kevin Bishop; Sarah Josefsson; Lovisa Zillén; Ida-Maja Hassellöv; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiberbank; fiber-rich sediments; metals; persistent organic pollutants; pore water; bottom water; dispersal; sorption; pulp and paper; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : The health of the Baltic Sea is negatively affected by hazardous substances such as metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs), which include legacy pollutants that were banned decades ago, but still circulate in the ecosystem. Elevated levels of legacy pollutants, identified by HELCOM as key hazardous substances, have been found in accumulations of fibrous sediments, so-called fiberbanks and fiber-rich sediments, which derive from old pulp mills along the Swedish north coast. 5. 5. Hazard screening of contaminated sites : bioavailable fractions and biological in vitro tools

    Författare :Daniel Ragnvaldsson; Mats Tysklind; Per Leffler; Lars Lövgren; Bengt-Erik Bengtsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hazard screening; bioavailability; metal pollution; in vitro cytotoxicity; water extraction; CCA; arsenic genotoxicity; genotoxicity; Contaminated soil; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental bioavailability of contaminants, rather than their total concentrations in the soil compartment play a decisive role for the risks associated with contaminated sites. Various soil constituents and abiotic conditions have strong influence on bioavailability, which may vary substantially between different locations. LÄS MER
