  1. 21. Circumpolar impacts of herbivores on Arctic tundra vegetation

    Författare :Elin Lindén; Johan Olofsson; Maja K. Sundqvist; Mariska te Beest; Elisabeth S. Bakker; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; herbivores; grazing; Arctic; circumpolar; tundra; vegetation; plant defence; secondary metabolites; shrub birch; exclosures; vegetation; species diversity; biology; biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic tundra vegetation provides many ecological services that have implications for the global climate. However, the tundra biome is currently changing in response to increasing temperatures. Herbivores may mitigate some of these responses to warming through their impact on Arctic vegetation. LÄS MER

  2. 22. On Threat Assessment and Decision-Making for Avoiding Automotive Vehicle Collisions

    Författare :Mattias Brännström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; collision avoidance; decision-making; active safety; intersection collisions; rear-end collisions; collision mitigation; threat assessment; autonomous braking; automotive safety;

    Sammanfattning : Road traffic accidents are one of the world’s largest public health problems. In the EU alone, traffic accidents cause approximately 1.8 million injuries and 43.000 fatalities each year. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Opening the black box of material criticality : heterogeneity and interrelations of companies within and across industrial sectors

    Författare :Yulia Lapko; Cali Nuur; Paolo Trucco; Aristides Matopoulos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Critical materials; Identification; Mitigation; Company; Supply chain; Inter-sectoral competition; Buyer-supplier power relations; Industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Economics and Management;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of ‘material criticality’ has been introduced to examine availability and accessibility of natural resources that underlie industrial competitiveness and deployment of strategic technologies, such as electric mobility or wind turbines. The academic and policy discourse conceptualised material criticality rather as a black box, assuming industrial sectors to be monolithic, homogeneous and independent entities, neglecting complexity of the company dimension. 4. 24. The European forest trade model : EU policy and the impact on forest raw material use

    Författare :Anna Mansikkasalo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this study is to develop a numerical simulation model of the European trade in forest fuels and analyse the possible trade levels for forest fuels in Europe following the implementation of EU energy policy. The White Paper and the RES-E Directive have been designed partly to support an increased use of forest fuels as sources for energy generation. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Lignocellulosic residues for bioenergy : effects of storage, fuel design, and combustion characteristics

    Författare :Marjan Bozaghian; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Utilization of lignocellulosic residues for bioenergy raises storage, handling, and combustion challenges. The ash-forming elements in biomass may cause ash-related problems during combustion, such as slagging, fouling, corrosion, or bed agglomeration. Most of these problems are linked to ash-chemical reactions involving alkali. LÄS MER
