  1. 1. CYP2C19 polymorphisms in drug metabolism and response

    Författare :Ming Chang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Individuals vary widely in their response to drug treatment. After receiving doses of a drug that are recommended based on a population average, some patients could have an insufficient response, whereas others may experience adverse effects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Renal cell death in urinary tract infections : role of E. coli toxins

    Författare :Ming Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Pyelonephritis; Escherichia coli toxins; ERK; LPA; cell death; carbon monoxide; hemolysin; nitric oxide; heme oxygenase-1; dexamethasone; kidney development;

    Sammanfattning : Febrile urinary tract infections (UTI) are common bacterial illnesses in children. Several follow up studies have shown that 10-15 % of infants with pyelonephritis will develop permanent renal damage, i.e., renal scars, which in turn may lead to chronic diseases such as hypertension and renal insufficiency. 3. 3. The role of endogenous hypercholecystokininemia and hypergastrinemia in growth and carcinogenesis of the exocrine pancreas

    Författare :Ming Chu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The gut hormones cholecystokinin (CCK) and gastrin are phylogeneticallyand structurally related. Under normal conditions, CCK regulates growth of the exocrine pancreas and gastrin growth of the oxyntic mucosa of the stomach. LÄS MER

  4. 4. New insights in parathyroid hormone secretion : with focus on exocytosis and calcium signaling

    Författare :Ming Lu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The parathyroid is distinguished from other endocrine systems since its primary stimuli inhibit hormone secretion. It is generally considered that extracellular Ca2+ binds to a membrane receptor (calcium sensing receptor, or CaSR), and via second messengers modulate parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pit lakes from sulphide ore mining, geochemical and limnological characterization before treatment, after liming and sewage sludge treatments : cases studies at Rävlidmyran and Udden, Sweden

    Författare :Ming Lu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Due to the increasing number of acidic mining-pit lakes and a growing awareness of the environmental risks associated with them, pit lakes have attracted more and more attention. This study started with a full-year- round investigation of two abandoned sulphide mine pit lakes, the Rävlidmyran and Udden pit lakes in northern Sweden, followed by studies of two full-scale remediation treatments, liming and sewage sludge treatment, respectively, in the Rävlidmyran pit lake.
