11. Vegetation history, human impact and palaeogeography of West Estonia : Pollen analytical studies of lake and bog sediments
Sammanfattning : The history of Holocene vegetation in western Estonia and the West Estonian Archipelago is described. Early Holocene sea level changes in the area are reconstructed, and human impact on the vegetation during the Late Holocene is discussed West Estonia was divided into five study areas (Rummu-Maardu, Mustjärve, Velise-Kiilaspere, Tôstamaa Peninsula, and northern Saaremaa in the West Estonian Archipelago, from north to south). 12. Milankovitch Cycles in Chalks, Danish North Sea, Detected by Use of Magnetic Susceptibility
Sammanfattning : Subdivision of the Maastrichtian chalk from the Danish North Sea has proven to be difficult because of the homogenous composition and appearance. A high-resolution subdivision of the chalk yields new information and better understanding of the depositional environment along with the possibility of an advantageous correlation. LÄS MER
13. Dipolar recoupling sequences in 13C and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance studies of mineral surfaces
Sammanfattning : Solid state magic angle spinning (MAS) 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments, both cross polarization (CP) and dipole-dipole recoupling, were used as tools in the investigation of the reaction products at the surface of synthetic galena (PbS) mineral and O,O'-dialkyldithiophosphate potassium salts. Various dipole-dipole recoupling sequences have been tested on powder glycine-13C2 NMR and a polycrystalline powder sample of O,O'-diethyldithiophosphate2-Ni(II) to find one or several sequences suitable for the surface experiments. 14. Development of the mineralogical path for geometallurgical modeling of iron ores
Sammanfattning : The demands for more effective utilization of ore bodies and proper risk management in the mining industry have resulted in a new cross discipline called geometallurgy. Geometallurgy connects geological, mineral processing and subsequent downstream processing information together to provide a comprehensive model to be used in production planning and management. 15. Crustal architecture of the Kiruna mining district : Structural framework, geological modeling, and physical rock property distribution
Sammanfattning : Rapid technological advancements and growing environmental consciousness created a shifting dynamic of metal demand within the context of contemporary global challenges. The metals play a pivotal role in this transformation and remarkable surge in demand is expected. LÄS MER
