  1. 1. Musculoskeletal disorders in Swedish military aircrew : screening and clinical examination of the cervico-thoracic region

    Författare :Matthias Tegern; Ulrika Aasa; Björn Äng; Karin Harms-Ringdahl; Mari Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Musculoskeletal disorders; Pain; Swedish Armed Forces; aircrew; pilots; physiotherapy; reliability; sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are a common and growing occupational problem in military aircrew. Intervention studies attempting to reduce such issues have only showed limited preventive effects. Furthermore, in-depth knowledge of the clinical presentation of aircrew members with painful episodes is lacking. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pilots’ decision-making, emotions and cognitive performance in simulated environments

    Författare :Eduardo Rosa; Johan Willander; Igor Knez; Robert Ljung; Nicklas Dahlström; Eric Groen; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; aviation; pilot; simulation; environment; decision-making; fatigue; cognition; emotion; physiology; flyg; pilot; simulering; miljö; beslutsfattande; trötthet; kognition; känslor; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to investigate pilots’ performances in distinct simulation environments as related to the phenomena of cognition, emotion and fatigue. By doing so, it provides psychological material to broaden the understanding and possibility to development of pilots’ non-technical skills category related to the operational context. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Use of 2D and 3D Displays in Military Settings

    Författare :Patrik Lif; Leo Poom; Kip Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; visuell perception; 3D; displays; spatial cues; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the possibilities of using 3D perspective displays in different military settings, and to illustrate the limitations of 3D displays, that is, when 2D displays are to be preferred. More specifically, this thesis explores (a) readability during vibrations, (b) perception aspects on perspective aircraft displays, and (c) the value of spatial cues in 3D air traffic displays in military settings. 4. 4. Neck pain in air force pilots : on risk factors, neck motor function and an exercise intervention

    Författare :Björn Äng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :biomechanics; cervical pain; electromyography; military pilots; movement quality; muscle fatigue; muscle strength; neuromuscular; physiotherapy; range of motion;

    Sammanfattning : Neck pain is a medical problem in modern military aviation. While neck exercises are recommended, clinical trials of neck motor function have been less investigated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On neck load among helicopter pilots : effects of head worn equipment, whole body vibration and neck position

    Författare :Marcus Thuresson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Biomechanics; cervical spine; electromyography; head-worn equipment; helicopter pilots; laboratory; male; mechanical load; neck load; night vision goggles; rotary wing pilots; statistics; transmissibility; whole body vibration.;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Helicopter pilots complain of pain originating from the neck region. The causes are still basically unknown, but the ergonomic situation when flying a helicopter, with unfavorable load caused by static neck and body positions, whole-body vibration and heavy head-worn equipment, has been suggested as a risk factor.
