  1. 1. Biodegradable Blends and Nanocomposite Films with Amylopectin, Poly(lactic acid) and Chitosan Matrices

    Författare :David Nordqvist; Mikael S. Hedenqvist; Mats Stading; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amylopectin; chitosan; microfibrillated cellulose; nanocomposite; montmorillonite; coupling agent; amylopektin; kitosan; mikrofibrillär cellulose; nanokomposit; montmorillonit; kompatibilisator; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Användningan av engångsförpackningar har ökat kraftigt de senaste åren. Den absolut största delen av dessa förpackningar tillverkars av oljebaserade plaster såsom polyetylen (PE) och polypropylen (PP). Dessa har även en oerhört lång nedbrytningstid, vilket gör det viktigt att finna mer miljövänliga alternativ. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fluorescence Guided Resection of Brain Tumors : Evaluation of a Hand-held Spectroscopic Probe

    Författare :Johan Richter; Karin Wårdell; Jan Hillman; Peter Siesjö; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant gliomas grow infiltrative in the brain and can therefore not be completely removed by neurosurgical means. However, for an optimized oncological treatment it has proven useful to resect as much as possible of tumor. The identification of the tumor in the marginal zone is difficult but crucial. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Automated super-resolution microscopy for high-throughput imaging

    Författare :Xavier Casas Moreno; Ilaria Testa; Florian Jug; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RESOLFT; throughput; microscopy automation; nanoscopy; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescence microscopes enable the visualization of biological samples with high contrast by labeling specific structures with fluorescent molecules. However, the spatial resolution of widely used microscopy techniques, such as widefield and confocal microscopy, is limited by the size of a focused spot of light, which roughly corresponds to half the wavelength of the illumination. 4. 4. Automating STED microscopy for functional and structural live-cell imaging

    Författare :Jonatan Alvelid; Ilaria Testa; Eggeling Christian; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; STED; microscopy; nanoscopy; super-resolution microscopy; automation; image analysis; fluorophores; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Optical microscopy imaging methods are today invaluable tools for studies in life sciences as they allow visualization of biological systems, tissues, cells, and sub-cellular compartments from millimetres down to nanometres. The invention and development of nanoscopy in the past 20 years has pushed fluorescence microscopy down to the nanoscale, reaching beyond the natural diffraction limit of light that does not allow focusing of visible light below sizes of around 200 nm, and into the realm of what was previously only thought possible with electron microscopy. 5. 5. Analysis of Structure, Composition and Growth of Semiconductor Nanowires by Transmission Electron Microscopy

    Författare :Martin Ek; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transmission electron microscopy; nanowires; III-V semiconductors; polarity; in-situ TEM;

    Sammanfattning : Nanowires have the potential to be a very flexible platform for the design of semiconductor devices. In nanowires it is possible to form crystal structures not found in the bulk materials under normal conditions, and to combine different III-V and group IV materials into axial or radial heterostructures.
