1. Trace Element Analysis with Application to Environmental Pollutants Studies in Vietnam
Sammanfattning : In the work presented here the attention has been focused on optimising sample preparation and analytical techniques for trace element determination, analytical quality assurance and environmental applications. Trace element concentrations in various environmental matrices were investigated using Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectro-metry (ICP-MS) and Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CV-AAS). 2. Processing of berries – Effects on functionality, stability and bioactivity of anthocyanins
Sammanfattning : Berries are rich natural sources of anthocyanins, water-soluble pigments in plants that have been linked to beneficial effects against chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. However, anthocyanins as well as other polyphenolic compounds are often sensitive to degradation during processing, storage and digestion. LÄS MER
3. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater : validation of a field filtration technique
Sammanfattning : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. LÄS MER
4. Multielemental analysis of geological and biological samples using laser ablation ICP-SFMS
Sammanfattning : The analytical performance of laser ablation (LA) for multielemental determination of geological and biological samples has been investigated. In the present study, LA has been used for sample introduction in inductively coupled plasma sector field mass spectrometry (ICP-SFMS). LÄS MER
5. Multi-element analysis of environmental samples using LA-ICP-MS : method developments with emphasis on calibration strategies
Sammanfattning : Analytical applications based on the use of laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-sector field mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-SFMS) have shown great potential for both quantitative and qualitative determination of elements in a variety of materials, although the weak point is finding a suitable calibration approach. The major focus of this work has, therefore, been internal standardisation and calibration. LÄS MER
