1. Slow propagation line-based superconducting devices for quantum technology
Sammanfattning : In the field of circuit quantum electrodynamics (c-QED), the coherent interaction of two-level systems (TLSs) with photons, confined in a superconducting microwaveresonator, opens up new possibilities for quantum computing experiments. This thesis contributes to the expansion of c-QED tool-box with slow propagation line-based solutions for ubiquitous techniques, such as cryogenic Near Field Scanning Microwave Microscopy (NSMM), Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopy and Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifier (TWPA). 2. Gap waveguide for packaging microstrip filters & investigation of transitions from planar technologies to ridge gap waveguide
Sammanfattning : Gap waveguide technology has proved to constitute an effective alternative for the design of microwave passive components, due to its advantages with respect to traditional planar technologies and standard waveguides. There is no requirement for conductive contact between the two different metal pieces making up a gap waveguide prototype, since one of these pieces makes use of a textured surface that eliminates any possible leakage of the field through the gap to the surface of the other metal piece above it. 3. Gap Waveguide Technology- Electromagnetic Packaging and Transitions
Sammanfattning : The scarcity of available frequency bands for new wireless communication systems, as well as the growing need for higher capacity, motivates the current interest in moving upwards in frequency. The millimeter wave frequencyrange is very attractive to allocate potential commercial opportunities such as short range wireless communications that allow high-speed data/video transmission, and automotive radars for both driver assistance and increasedsafety. 4. Monolithic Micro- and Millimeter-wave Integrated Circuits in 90 nm CMOS Technology
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work has been to design and characterize microwave components and circuits within a 90 nm RF-CMOS process. The work has been divided into two parts: integration of passive components and design and characterization of several mixer circuits. LÄS MER
5. Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Monolithic Integrated Circuits in CMOS and GaAs-mHEMT Technologies
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work has been to design and characterize microwave and millimeter-wave components and circuits within a 90 nm Si-CMOS process and a 100 nm GaAs-mHEMT process. The work is divided in two parts depending on the technology. LÄS MER
