21. Cannabinoids as modulators of cancer cell viability, neuronal differentiation, and embryonal development
Sammanfattning : Cannabinoids (CBs) are compounds that activate the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB receptors mediate many different physiological functions, and cannabinoids have been reported to decrease tumor cell viability, proliferation, migration, as well as to modulate metastasis. LÄS MER
22. HPRT mutational spectra and microsatellite DNA instability in HNPCC and lung cancer patients
Sammanfattning : The, general aims of this work have been to explore the use of microsatellite DNA length variation and mutational spectra of the hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) locus in T-cells as tools for a better understanding of human somatic mutagenesis in vivo. In particular (a) how inherited mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency may affect the stability of microsatellite DNA and the mutational spectrum at the HPRT locus, and (b) how the mutational spectrum at the HPRT locus is influenced by smoking, and by predisposition to lung cancer among never smokers. 23. Fisheries biology of the edible crab (Cancer pagurus) in the Kattegat and the Skagerrak - implications for sustainable management
Sammanfattning : The European edible crab (Cancer pagurus) is exploited to a varying degree in its area of distribution. Landings in United Kingdom and Ireland may have peaked around year 2000, reaching 25 000 and 13 000 tonnes, respectively but have slightly decreased since. LÄS MER
24. Different genetic pathways involved in colorectal cancer
Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the three leading causes of cancer mortality worldwide with an incidence of approximately one million cases and a mortality of 500 000 annually. Identification of different pathways involved in tumorigenesis of both familial and sporadic colorectal cancer may led to a major breakthrough in the prevention of this potentially curable disease. 25. Hereditary predisposition and prognostic prediction in cancer
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a genetic disease. The cancer cells evolve clonally through changes of their genome, gaining malignant characteristics. In hereditary cancer syndromes, a genetic aberration which puts the cells one step closer to being malignant is inherited and present throughout whole body. LÄS MER
