1. Microfibrillated cellulose : Energy-efficient preparation techniques and key properties
Sammanfattning : This work describes three alternative processes for producing microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in which pulp fibres are first pre-treated and then homogenized using a high-pressure homogenizer. In one process, fibre cell wall delamination was facilitated with a combined enzymatic and mechanical pre-treatment. LÄS MER
2. Microfibrillated cellulose: Energy-efficient preparation techniques and applications in paper
Sammanfattning : This work describes three alternative processes for producing microfibrillated cellulose (MFC; also referred to as cellulose nanofibrils, CNF) in which bleached pulp fibres are first pretreated and then homogenized using a high-pressure homogenizer. In one process, fibre cell wall delamination was facilitated by a combined enzymatic and mechanical pretreatment. LÄS MER
3. Fenton Pre-treatment of a Birch Kraft Pulp for MFC preparation
Sammanfattning : The potential to use acidic hydrogen peroxide in the presence of ferrous ions (Fenton’s reagent) as a pre-treatment when producing microfibrillar cellulose (MFC) from a fully bleached birch (Betula verucosa) kraft pulp was investigated and the properties of the produced MFC was compared to the properties of a MFC produced with enzymatic pre-treatment with a monocomponent endoglucanase (FiberCare® R). The mechanical treatment to MFC was performed in a laboratory colloid mill or in a pilot high-pressure homogeniser and the pre-treated pulps as well as the produced MFCs were chemically and morphologically characterised. 4. Absorbent Materials from Kraft Pulp
Sammanfattning : Superabsorbent polymers (SAP) have, since being introduced in the 1980s, become an important constituent in hygiene products, such as disposable diapers. The design of disposable diapers has changed over the years and today thinner products can be produced partly because of the excellent absorption and retention properties of the petrochemical-based SAP.
