11. Energy-Related Metabolites during and after Induced Myocardial Ischemia and Retroperfusion of the Coronary Sinus : An Experimental Study in the Pig with the Microdialysis Technique and Extracorporeal Circulation
Sammanfattning : In the clinical setting great efforts have been made with contradictory results to operate upon acutely myocardial ischemic patients. The reasons for the absence of unambiguous results are not well understood nor are they scientifically explored. LÄS MER
12. Myocardial metabolism and ischemia assessed by microdialysis. Clinical and experimental studies in cardiac surgery
Sammanfattning : Background: The available methods to study myocardial metabolism and ischemia show considerable limitations when employed during and after cardiac surgery. Microdialysis is a technique for continuous sampling of substances from the interstitium. LÄS MER
13. Oxygen delivery and mitochondrial dysfunction as assessed by microdialysis during interventions in experimental sepsis
Sammanfattning : Early administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics is the first goal in sepsis treatment. Besides from bacteriostatic/bactericidal effects, some antibiotics may also modify the host´s response to infection. The novel antibiotic tigecycline may exert such properties; however, this property has not been evaluated in large-animal trials. LÄS MER
14. Microdialysis as a Tool in Studies of L-Dopa and Metabolites in Malignant Melanoma and Parkinson’s Disease
Sammanfattning : A model with human melanoma xenografts transplanted to athymic mice has been adopted for in vivo studies of 5-S-cysteinyldopa (an intermediate pigment metabolite), glutathione, and cysteine. L-Dopa is an intermediate metabolite in pigment formation and is also important in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, and therefore 1 have also studied the pharmacokinetics of this compound. 15. Microdialysis : potentials and limitations
Sammanfattning : Despite improvements in operating technique and post-operative management, many patients undergoing liver transplantation still suffer post-operative complications, which may lead to graft loss or patient death. Patients are monitored closely post-operatively using blood chemistry, diagnostic imaging and liver biopsies to detect these complications including rejection and arterial- and portal vein thrombosis.
