  1. 1. Optimization of breast tomosynthesis: Computer simulations of image acquisition and glandular dose

    Författare :Hannie Förnvik; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :breast tomosynthesis; Monte Carlo simulation; acquisition parameters; software breast phantom; microcalcifications; breast density; glandular dose; glandular distribution;

    Sammanfattning : Breast tomosynthesis (BT) is an X-ray imaging technique recently introduced as an alternative or complement to standard digital mammography (DM) in breast imaging and breast cancer screening. In BT, a set of projection images is acquired over a limited angular range and reconstructed into a volume of slice images. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Role of Projected Anatomy, Random Noise, and Spatial Resolution on Clinical Image Quality in Digital Mammography

    Författare :Mark Ruschin; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 3D breast imaging; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; hybrid images; dose reduction; spatial resolution; pixel size; Breast cancer; digital mammography; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; breast tomosynthesis;

    Sammanfattning : Due to the recent advances in digital detector technology, there is an increasing trend in the use of digital mammography (DM) as a concurrent modality with screen-film mammography (SFM). In order to fully realize its potential, the components of a DM system should be optimized with respect to clinical image quality in order for clinicians to make accurate diagnoses. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Determinants and influence of mammographic features on breast cancer risk

    Författare :Shadi Azam; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mammographic density and mammographic microcalcifications are the key imaging features in mammography examination. Mammographic density is known as a strong risk factor for breast cancer and is the radiographic appearance of epithelial and fibrous tissue which appears white on a mammogram. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk

    Författare :Tony Svahn; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diagnostic accuracy; breast tomosynthesis BT ; digital mammography DM ; average glandular dose AGD ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; risk assessment; search-model SM ; proper ROC PROPROC ;

    Sammanfattning : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM. 5. 5. Comparison of stereotactic fine needle aspiration biopsy and core needle biopsy in breast lesions

    Författare :Karin Leifland; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of two biopsy methods by comparing stereotactic fine needle aspiration biopsy (S-FNAB) with stereotactic core needle biopsy (S-CNB). The biopsies were performed by the same radiologist, in the same breast lesion on the same occasion, in order to establish which method that best can be recommended in different kind of mammographically detected lesions.
