    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Peter A Lind; Dan I Andersson; J. Arjan G. M. de Visser; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fitness cost; bacterial evolution; gene amplification; mutational biases; GC content; synonymous substitutions; horizontal gene transfer; experimental evolution; MEDICINE Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases Microbiology Bacteriology; MEDICIN Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar Mikrobiologi Bakteriologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Organism biology Microbiology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Organismbiologi Mikrobiologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Genetics; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Genetik; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The study of bacterial evolution is fundamental for addressing current problems of antibiotic resistance and emerging infectious diseases and lays a solid foundation for successful and rational design in biotechnology and synthetic biology. The main aim of this thesis is to test evolutionary hypotheses, largely based on theoretical considerations and sequence analysis, by designing scenarios in a laboratory setting to obtain experimental data. 2. 2. Distribution and activity of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in marine and estuarine waters

    Detta är en avhandling från Växjö, Kalmar : Linnaeus University Press

    Författare :Hanna Farnelid; Lasse Riemann; Jonathan Zehr; [2013]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 454-pyrosequencing; diazotrophs; heterotrophic bacteria; marine bacteria; marine microbial ecology; microbiology; nifH; nitrogenase; nitrogen fixation; PCR; qPCR; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : In aquatic environments the availability of nitrogen (N) generally limits primary production. N2-fixing prokaryotes (diazotrophs) can convert N2 gas into ammonium and provide significant input of N into the oceans. Cyanobacteria are thought to be the main N2-fixers but diazotrophs also include a wide range of heterotrophic bacteria. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Bacterioplankton in the light of seasonality and environmental drivers

    Detta är en avhandling från Växjö, Kalmar : Linnaeus University Press

    Författare :Carina Bunse; Jarone Pinhassi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine bacteria; marine microbiology; seasonal succession; ocean acidification; proteorhodopsin; photoheterotrophy; microbial time series; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton are keystone organisms in marine ecosystems. They are important for element cycles, by transforming dissolved organic carbon and other nutrients. Bacterioplankton community composition and productivity rates change in surface waters over spatial and temporal scales. LÄS MER
