    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spherical graphite iron; component casting; high silicon ductile iron; digital image correlation DIC ; in-situ tensile testing; in-situ cyclic testing; DIC pattern generation; pit etching; micro-scale deformation; micro-crack; finite element analysis FEA ; focused ion beam FIB milling; segjärn; komponentgjutning; högkisellegerat segjärn; digital image correlation DIC ; insitu dragprovning; in-situ cyklisk provning; DIC-mönstergenerering; grop-etsning; mikroskalig deformation; mikrosprickor; finite element analys FEA ; fokuserad jonstråle FIB avverkning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 2. 2. Life paths through space and time: Adding the micro-level geographic context to longitudinal historical demographic research

    Författare :Finn Hedefalk; Centrum för ekonomisk demografi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Geographic micro-level factors; longitudinal historical data; geocoding; historical demography; 19th century; individual level; spatio-temporal analysis; detailed geographic data; geographic context.; property units; rural historical soceties; Geographic micro-level factors; longitudinal historical data; geocoding; historical demography; 19th century; individual level; spatio-temporal analysis; detailed geographic data; property units; geographic context;

    Sammanfattning : Historical demographic research is central to understanding past human behaviours and traits, such as fertility, mortality and migration. An essential part of historical demography is conducting longitudinal analyses at the micro-level, which involves the detailed follow-up of individuals over long time periods throughout their lives. 3. 3. Microstructure and deformation behaviour of ductile iron under tensile loading

    Författare :Keivan Amiri Kasvayee; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Ehsan Ghassemali; Lennart Elmquist; Kenneth Hamberg; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ductile iron; digital image correlation DIC ; in-situ tensile test; pit etching; Microscale deformation; micro-crack; finite elements analysis FEA ; cohesive elements;

    Sammanfattning : The current thesis focuses on the deformation behaviour and strain distribution in the microstructure of ductile iron during tensile loading. Utilizing Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and in-situ tensile test under optical microscope, a method was developed to measure high resolution strain in microstructural constitutes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The role of microstructure for crack propagation in cortical bone

    Författare :Anna Gustafsson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Crack deflection; Interface; Mechanical testing; Micro-CT; Osteon; Porosity; XFEM;

    Sammanfattning : Healthy cortical bone tissue is both tough and strong and has a unique ability to resist fracture. One reason is the hierarchical structure of the tissue where toughening mechanisms at all length scales act to slow down or stop a propagating crack. LÄS MER

  5. 5. An experimental study on the dynamics of melt-water micro-interactions in a Vapor explosion

    Författare :Roberta Concilio Hansson; Truc-Nam Dinh; Daniel Magallon; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Vapor explosion as a result of Molten Fuel-Coolant Interactions (MFCI) postulated to occur in certain severe accident scenarios in a nuclear power plant presents a credible challenge on the plant containment integrity. Over the past several decades, a large body of literature has been accumulated on vapor explosion phenomenology and methods for assessment of the related risk. LÄS MER
