16. The B lymphocyte in Staphylococcus aureus arthritis
Sammanfattning : Joint infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus leads to heavy synovitis and rapid destruction of bone and cartilage. Permanent loss of joint function is seen in 20-50% of the patients, despite early eradication of the bacteria with antibiotics. LÄS MER
17. Helicobacter pylori infection in a mouse model: Development, optimization and inhibitory effects of antioxidants
Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori is a human pathogen strongly associated with chronic type B gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer and MALT lymphoma. Our aims were to establish a mouse model of H. pylori infection, to study pathogenesis of gastritis and gastric cancer and to investigate new treatment strategies in this model. LÄS MER
18. Mycobacterial infection: Immune evasion, host susceptibility and immunological markers of diagnostic importance
Sammanfattning : IIn the first study, we investigated the functional implications of prolonged TLR signalling on IFN-γ mediated killing of mycobacteria by murine macrophages in vitro. TLR2, but not TLR4 ligation interfered with IFN-γ mediated killing of mycobacteria in macrophages. LÄS MER
19. Host-bacterium relationship in staphylococcal skin infection
Sammanfattning : Skin infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus are commonly occuring, both in the community and in hospitals. Despite the high prevalence of this condition, little is known about the host immune responsiveness and bacterial virulence factors during S. aureus skin infection. LÄS MER
20. Localization of lipoprotein lipase in mouse pancreas, kidney and placenta : impact of metabolic disturbances on cellular distribution and activity regulation
Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the key enzyme for metabolism of triglycerides in plasma lipoproteins. In recent years many new facts about the enzyme and its regulation have been uncovered. The endothelial membrane protein GPIHBP1 translocates LPL through endothelial cells and holds the enzyme in place at the luminal side of the capillary endothelium. LÄS MER
