  1. 1. Brain tumors in children - National population-based studies on classification, diagnostics and long-term follow-up

    Författare :Elizabeth Schepke; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatric CNS tumors; population-based; DNA methylation; profiling; CNS-PNET; re-evaluation; incidence rate; long-term outcome; classification; Pediatric CNS tumors; Population-based; DNA methylation; Profiling; CNS-PNET; Re-evaluation; Incidence rate; Long-term outcome; Classification;

    Sammanfattning : Although the prognosis for pediatric tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) has improved over time it is urgent to reduce mortality and improve long-term quality of life for survivors. With this aim, the first step is to identify the correct diagnosis in order to choose the right therapy and avoid unnecessary treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Prognostic markers and DNA methylation profiling in lymphoid malignancies

    Författare :Sujata Bhoi; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; H Denis Alexander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphoid malignancies; CLL; MCL; prognostic markers; micro-RNA; methylation; stereotyped subsets;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, great progress has been achieved towards identifying novel biomarkers in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), at the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic level for accurate risk-stratification and prediction of treatment response. In paper I, we validated the prognostic relevance of a recently proposed RNA-based marker in CLL, UGT2B17, and analyzed its expression levels in 253 early-stage patients. LÄS MER

  3. 3. High-resolution phenotypic profiling of a eukaryotic ribosome

    Författare :Jonathan Esguerra; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ribosome; ribosomal protein genes; box C D snoRNA; box H ACA snoRNA; 2’-O-ribose methylation; pseudouridylation; high-resolution phenotypic profiling; chemogenetic profiling; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; rRNA modification;

    Sammanfattning : All living cells contain ribosomes, complex macromolecular assemblies of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and proteins, responsible for synthesizing polypeptides in a process called translation. High-resolution three-dimensional ribosomal structures coupled with biochemical studies have paved the way in understanding the various mechanistic events during protein synthesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. DNA methylation profiling of CNS tumors; implications for clinical diagnostics

    Författare :Sandra Ferreyra Vega; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Central nervous system tumors; DNA methylation; clinical diagnostics; diffuse gliomas; meningiomas; heterogeneity;

    Sammanfattning : Diffuse gliomas and meningiomas are the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) in adults and these tumors cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Deregulation of the epigenetic mechanisms, e.g. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular Genetic and DNA Methylation Profiling of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : A Focus on Divergent Prognostic Subgroups and Subsets

    Författare :Nicola Cahill; Richard Rosenquist; Larry Mansouri; Fergus Ryan; Denis Alexander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DNA methylation; Chronic lymphocytic leukemia; SNP; array; IGHV3-21; IGHV4-34; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi; Genetics; Genetik; Medical Genetics; Medicinsk genetik; Molecular Biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Advancements in prognostication have improved the subdivision of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) into diverse prognostic subgroups. In CLL, IGHV unmutated and IGHV3-21 genes are associated with a poor-prognosis, conversely, IGHV mutated genes with a favourable outcome. LÄS MER
