16. Immunopathogenic studies on inflammation and bone destruction in rheumatoid arthritis
Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic joint disease characterized by synovial inflammation, leading to destruction of cartilage and bone. Local recruitment of immune cells and defective apoptosis results in chronic inflammation with increased synovial citrullination and local hypoxia. LÄS MER
17. Direct injection of plasma samples into restricted-access media precolumns for drug analysis in column-switching systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of using column-switching systems for direct injection of plasma samples to assay drugs at ng/ml levels. The systems utilized a restricted-access media (RAM) precolumn for the sample clean-up and trace enrichment. LÄS MER
18. Using enriched quality register data for health care evaluation : examples from rheumatoid arthritis
Sammanfattning : Swedish registers have for decades successfully been used for medica research, enabling long-term follow-up of large patient cohorts using observational designs. With a tax funded health care system and the use of a personal identity number as a unique identifier, together with national health registers as well as national demographic registers, we have to a relatively low cost the possibility to answer an abundance of research questions in a real-world setting. 19. Health economics and its measures in rheumatoid arthritis
Sammanfattning : Objectives: To study: (I) the impact on cost-utility analyses of applying different national EuroQol 5-Dimensions (EQ-5D) preference sets; (II and III) whether, in methotrexate-refractory, early rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the addition of infliximab results in superior health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and may be considered cost-effective, as compared to adding sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine; (IV) how costs relate to disability (measured by the health-assessment questionnaire, HAQ), disease activity (28-joint disease activity score, DAS28) and HRQoL (EQ-5D) in RA. Methods: In the observational SSATG register, one-year quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) accumulation of two interventions was compared according to the UK, US, or Danish EQ-5D preference sets. 20. Persistent inflammatory pathways in rheumatoid arthritis despite anti-rheumatic treatment
Sammanfattning : The past years have witnessed tremendous progress in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic debilitating autoimmune disease mainly characterized by joint inflammation with progressive tissue destruction and loss of function. This condition affects 0. LÄS MER
