6. Quantum Few-Body Physics with the Configuration Interaction Approach: Method Development and Application to Physical Systems
Sammanfattning : This dissertation, based on six included papers, theoretically investigates properties of quantum few-particle systems. An overview of related experimental research - ultra-cold trapped dilute gases, and electrons in quantum dots - is given, followed by a description of some of the studied many-particle phenomena - Bose-Einstein condensation, quantized vortices, Wigner localization and the Tonks-Girardeau gas. 7. Product Configuration from a Mathematical Optimization Perspective
Sammanfattning : The optimal truck configuration for a certain customer is very specific and depends on for what transport mission and in which operating environment the truck is to be used. In addition, the customers normally specify other feature requirements ranging from visual appearance to advanced driver support systems. LÄS MER
8. Analysis, Control, and Design Optimization of Engineering Mechanics Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers applications of gradient-based optimization algorithms to the design and control of some mechanics systems. The material distribution approach to topology optimization is applied to design two different acoustic devices, a reactive muffler and an acoustic horn, and optimization is used to control a ball pitching robot. 9. On Formal Methods for Large-Scale Product Configuration
Sammanfattning : In product development companies mass customization is widely used to achieve better customer satisfaction while keeping costs down. To efficiently implement mass customization, product platforms are often used. A product platform allows building a wide range of products from a set of predefined components. LÄS MER
10. House Form and Social Norms Spatial Analysis of Domestic Architecture in Wad-Nubbawi, Sudan
Sammanfattning : The house is an artefact of socio-cultural events and the aim of this dissertation is to acquire knowledge relevant for future architecture. The study investigates the domestic lifestyle, use and spatial pattern of houses in a traditional urban context in Sudan. LÄS MER
