  1. 1. Bimetallic palladium catalysts for catalytic combustion of methane

    Författare :Katarina Persson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; catalytic combustion; gas turbine; methane; palladium; bimetal; morphology; TPO; TEM; EDS; methane activity; stability; pressure; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Catalytic combustion is a promising combustion technique in gas turbines, which results in ultra low levels of NOx, CO and unburned hydrocarbons. Due to the low combustion temperature achieved in catalytic combustion almost no thermal NOx is formed. The focus in this thesis will be on the first stage in a catalytic combustion chamber, i.e. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Catalytic combustion is a promising combustion technology for gas turbines, which results in ultra low emission levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and unburned hydrocarbons (UHC). Due to the low temperature achieved in catalytic combustion almost no thermal NOx is formed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Catalytic combustion of methane

    Författare :Philippe Thevenin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :catalytic combustion; gas turbine; methane; palladium; alumina; barium; lanthanum; oxidation; preparation; temperature-programmed oxidation TPO ; decomposition; reoxidation; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy XPS ; metal-support interaction; deactiva;

    Sammanfattning : Catalytic combustion is an environmentally benign technologywhich has recently reached the stage of commercialization.Palladium is the catalyst of choice when considering gasturbines fuelled with natural gas because of its superioractivity for methane oxidation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Palladium Catalyzed Methane Oxidation for Emission Control

    Författare :Ida Friberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; water deactivation; methane oxidation; regeneration; Pd beta; Pd Al2O3; Si Al ratio; Ba; sulfur poisoning; Pd SSZ-13;

    Sammanfattning : The use of methane based fuels, such as natural gas and biogas, benefits from lower emissions of CO2, CO, NOx, non-methane HC, SOx and particulate matters compared to traditionally used liquid fossil fuels. However, the exhaust gases contain significant levels of unburnt CH4 residuals, which are desirable to minimize since CH4 is a strong greenhouse gas with high global warming potential. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spectroscopic characterisation of surface hydroxyls during catalytic methane oxidation

    Författare :Peter Velin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; XAS; Water inhibition; Supported palladium; Sustainable transports; Methane oxidation; Operando spectroscopy; DRIFTS; Environmental catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : Implementation of methane rich fuels as to develop sustainable vehicle transports requires improved catalytic exhaust aftertreatment technologies to convert engine-out methane emissions to carbon dioxide and water by total oxidation. A main challenge is that water formed during combustion inhibits the methane oxidation reaction even over the most active palladium-based catalysts presently known. LÄS MER
