11. High Resolution Spectroscopy of Singly Charged Ions : Applications of Laser and Fourier Transform Techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents measurements of fundamental properties of singly charged ionic systems including spectral wavelengths, lifetimes of excited states and branching fractions with the main focus on time resolved laser spectroscopy of stored ions providing lifetime measurements of metastable states. Sammanfattning : Atomic structure and collision properties of ionised atoms have been studied usingcollision-based spectroscopy and fast ion beam-laser spectroscopy.Collision induced photon emission spectra of Xe VI, Xe VII and Xe VIII andthe potassium like metal ions Mn VII, Fe VIII and Co IX have been recorded with a beam of multiply charged ions from an ECR (electron cyclotron resonance) ion source passing through an atomic target. 15. Recombination and ionization of astrophysically abundant ions
Sammanfattning : The electron-ion recombination and electron-impact ionization of several astrophysically abundant C, N, O, and Ni ions have been investigated using the synchrotron storage ring CRYRING. The recombination rate coefficients predominanty used in the analyses of emission line spectra and for ionization balance calculations are determined from isoelectronic fits and extrapolations of theoretical and limited experimental results available from the literature.
