11. Plant-soil-herbivore interactions in a high Arctic wetland - Feedbacks to the carbon cycle
Sammanfattning : Arctic ecosystems hold massive amounts of the global carbon in their soils and are of great importance for the global terrestrial exchange of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The arctic region has in general been acting as a C sink for the past 10000 years, however with climate change the C balance in some areas is shifting towards becoming a C source. LÄS MER
12. Land-atmosphere exchange of carbon in a high-Arctic wet tundra ecosystem
Sammanfattning : Arctic ecosystems play a key role in the terrestrial carbon (C) cycle, but spa-tially explicit data on the C exchange is scarce in these remote areas. The global warming is especially dominant in the Arctic, and these areas are vul-nerable to climate change. LÄS MER
13. The role of deep hydrocarbons in the global hydrocarbon budget
Sammanfattning : Nowadays, the issue of global warming and related environmental problems got widespread awareness among scientific society, politics, the industry as well as it has affected our everyday life. The reason for such a negative impact on the atmosphere is attributed mainly to human activities. LÄS MER
14. Mid- and near-infrared NICE-OHMS : techniques for ultra-sensitive detection of molecules in gas phase
Sammanfattning : Noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry (NICE-OHMS) is a technique for ultra-sensitive detection of molecular absorption and dispersion. For highest performance, the technique combines cavity enhancement (CE) with frequency modulation (FM); while the former increases the effective interaction length between the light and the analyte by several orders of magnitudes, the latter removes the in-coupling of 1/f noise and makes the signals background free. 15. Energy Efficient Processes for the Production of Gaseous Biofuels - Reforming and Gas Upgrading
Sammanfattning : Replacing fossil fuels with biofuels is one way of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, thus decreasing our impact on the global climate. For this to be a viable option, several production routes are needed, as no single option can fully replace fossil fuels. LÄS MER
