  1. 16. Fragment Based Drug Discovery with Surface Plasmon Resonance Technology

    Författare :Helena Nordström; Helena Danielson; Gregg Siegal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fragment based drug discovery; SPR biosensor; matrix metalloproteinase-12; HIV-1 protease; resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Fragment based drug discovery (FBDD) has been applied to two protease drug targets, MMP-12 and HIV-1 protease. The primary screening and characterization of hit fragments were performed with surface plasmon resonance -technology. Further evaluation of the interaction was done by inhibition studies and in one case with X-ray crystallography. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The roles of the plasminogen activator and matrix metalloproteinase systems in ovulation and corpus luteum formation

    Författare :Ida Bodén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ovary; ovulation; corpus luteum; plasminogen; PA; MMP; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : Proteases of the plasminogen activator (PA) and the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) enzyme systems are expressed in the ovulatory follicle and in the developing corpus luteum (CL). However, the functional role of these extracellular degrading protease systems in the ovulatory and CL development processes remains elusive. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Effects of sex steroids and tamoxifen on matrix metalloproteinase activity and generation of endostatin in the breast

    Författare :Ulrika W. Nilsson; Charlotta Dabrosin; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; Breast cancer; TGF-β1; Endostatin; Estradiol; Mammary gland; Matrix metalloproteinases; MCF-7; Microdialysis; Nude mice; Tamoxifen; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Sex steroids are inevitable in women. However, long-term exposure to sex steroids increases the risk of breast cancer. A complete understanding of sex steroid control of the breast and how it relates to breast cancer risk is still lacking. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium

    Författare :Radovan Pilka; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; Obstetrics; gynaecology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancerology; secretion; Biology; Biologi; Cytology; oncology; implantation; human; endometrium; mRNA; MMP-26; TIMP-4; reproduktion; andrologi; gynekologi; Obstetrik; sexuality; reproduction; sexualitet; andrology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to study matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium. Most importantnly, both these molecules may be ivolved in the implantation process. Trophoblast tissue from human as well as mouse embryos produces pro-MMP-9. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Studies of Mesenchymal Progenitor Cells and Tumour Growth, Integrins and Matrix Metalloproteinases

    Författare :Lars Bryngelsson Ohlsson; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Tumour inhibition; cancer; onkologi; cancerology; Cytologi; oncology; Cytology; Biologi; Biology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Integrin matrix metalloproteinase interaction; Immunologi; serologi; transplantation; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; serology; Mesenchumal progenitor cells;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we characterize the effect of mesenchymal progenitor cells (MPCs) on tumour growth, and show that MPCs can have inhibitory effects on tumour development. We developed a method to subcutaneously transplant tumour cells, cultured in vitro in a pre-formed gelatin matrix, that made it possible to study the early phases of tumour development. LÄS MER
