  1. 1. Fatigue of Metal Matrix Composites

    Författare :Magnus Levin; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :mechanical properties; microstructures; manufacture; DMMC;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the mechanical properties of discontinuously reinforced metal matrix composites, DMMCs, in general and their fatigue properties in particular. Methods of manufacture, microstructures and resulting mechanical properties of DMMCs are reviewed in the introductory part. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Solder Matrix Fiber Composite Thermal Interface Materials

    Författare :Josef Hansson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal management; composite materials; solder; thermal interface material;

    Sammanfattning : Overheating has been a problem for microelectronics devices for decades, and the problem is exacerbated by the continued trend of miniaturization of features and the corresponding increase in power density. Thermal interface materials (TIMs) target one of the main bottlenecks in heat transfer: the interface between two materials, such as between a heat-generating microchip and a heatsink. LÄS MER

  3. 3. High dynamic stiffness nano-structured composites for vibration control : A Study of applications in joint interfaces and machining systems

    Författare :Qilin Fu; Cornel-Mihai Nicolescu; Per Nylén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vibration control; High dynamic stiffness; Metal matrix composite; Nano structures; Plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition PECVD ; High power impulse magnetron sputtering HiPIMS ; Adiabatic; Machining; Regenerative tool chatter; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Sammanfattning : Vibration control requires high dynamic stiffness in mechanical structures for a reliable performance under extreme conditions. Dynamic stiffness composes the parameters of stiffness (K) and damping (η) that are usually in a trade-off relationship. This thesis study aims to break the trade-off relationship. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Magnetron Sputtering of Nanocomposite Carbide Coatings for Electrical Contacts

    Författare :Kristian Nygren; Ulf Jansson; Peter Leisner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transition metal carbide; amorphous carbon; composite; contact resistance; corrosion; friction; optical properties;

    Sammanfattning : Today’s electronic society relies on the functionality of electrical contacts. To achieve good contact properties, surface coatings are normally applied. Such coatings should ideally fulfill a combination of different properties, like high electrical conductivity, high corrosion resistance, high wear resistance and low cost. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Wave-actuated Preform Infiltration Routines in MMC Production

    Författare :Lars-Olov Pennander; Industriell Produktion; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material technology; Magnetostrictive; Vibration; Actuation; Wave; Infiltration; Preform; Metal; Composites; MMC; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The implementation of highly magnetostrictive wave-actuator techniques in preform infiltration processes for metal-matrix composite production is described. Metal matrix materials require additional methods to handle the content, shape and position of the ceramic reinforcements, which are not required for metal alloy casting. LÄS MER
